The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS), recently launched in Union Budget of 2024–25 is aimed at providing internship opportunities to one crore youth between the age of 21 to 24 over the next five years. This initiative will offer hands-on exposure to real-life business environment across various industries for a period of 12 months. This scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and its officials of the Indian Corporate Law Service (I.C.L.S.) Cadre. Regional Directorate – Northwestern is the key agency for implementation at the regional level.

The scheme targets individuals aged 21 to 24 who are currently not enrolled in any full-time academic program or employment, offering them a unique opportunity to kick-start their careers. This is distinct scheme which provides them with 12 month paid internships in top companies of India. This scheme aims at making India the “Skill Capital of the World”.

For all remaining opportunities, the Government has extended the application deadline. This extension provides additional time for interested candidates to complete their applications and ensure they meet all required requirements. Goals of the PM Internship Scheme Round 2 Registration

The PM Internship Scheme Round 2 program started with a pilot project for the fiscal year 2024–2025 with a goal of 1.25 lakh internships, as stated in the Union Budget 2024–2025. These internships cover 24 industries, such as banking, financial services, travel, hospitality, oil and gas, and automobiles. To guarantee that participants are paired with morally and socially conscious companies, companies taking part in this pilot project were chosen based on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) expenditures during the previous three years. • Businesses outside of the top 500 had also expressed interest in using the program to offer internships.
