The class 10 board exams for science and Hindi were cancelled by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Thursday after the question papers purportedly leaked and went viral on social media. When JAC chairman Natwa Hansda disclosed that the exam day’s question paper packet, which had been opened at 9:45 AM, matched a version that had gone viral on social media, the controversy broke out. “As soon as the package was opened and the leak was confirmed, we compared it to the viral paper,” Hansda said in an interview with ETV Bharat. To address the situation, quick action was taken.
The current JAC board exams 2025, which started on February 11, 2025, are clouded by this incident. Devendra Mahato, a student leader, had previously expressed concerns on February 18 regarding the purported leak of the Hindi question paper just hours prior to the test. In a meeting with JAC Secretary Jayant Mishra, Mahato urged prompt action and provided proof that the Science paper was being shared on WhatsApp.

According to the official notice to all students, their parents, principals concerned, centre superintendents and officials concerned are informed that in the light of information received through social media and newspapers.

Re-examination for Jharkhand Board Class 10 Exam 2025
It said that these subjects would be re-examined at a later time. Koderma was the source of the paper leak information. The JAC has given the Koderma deputy commissioner 24 hours to provide a report on this matter. Additional measures will be taken after the report is submitted, Uma Shankar Singh, secretary of the state’s Department of School Education and Literacy, told PTI.
