All customers of Employee Provident Fund Organization can now use the technique of face authentication to activate their UAN. Under this new technology, not only employees but also employers can generate UAN under face authentication. To use this technique, the candidate will have to match the photo from the database using the DGLocker app and successfully get the UAN through SMS after matching the photo. This process is very easy. In such a situation, the UAN of EPFO will be generated without any fraud or forgery and EPFO customers will get direct benefit.

As we all know, the Employees Provident Fund Organization has made many changes under the EPFO within some time. All these changes have been made under the simplification of EPFO, the main changes were to eliminate the need to upload the image of the check leave and verified bank passbook and eliminate the requirement of the employer’s approval to add details of the bank accounts with them. Along with this, recently a new change has also been implemented inside it, which is to use the process of face authentication to activate UAN.
What is UAN and why it is necessary?
The UAN ie Universal Account Number This is a unique number of 12 digits that are provided to all provident fund account holders. Whenever a person joins a new job, his PF account is created in the company EPFO and UAN is issued. This UAN can be activated by both employers and employees. Without activation, employees cannot see their PF balance nor can EPFO services get the benefit. With this, the employee cannot claim his PF account amount. That is why UAN activation is mandatory under EPFO while joining the job every time.

How is the UAN activation process taking place till now?
Till now the employees used to provide their complete information to their employers to activate and generate UAN activities. After this, the employer used to add and activate Employees UAN number by providing his Aadhaar card, mobile number and all other information in EPFO office. But many times the employees’ Aadhaar cards are not linked to the mobile number. Or sometimes the data is not updated due to wrong and misleading information.
