Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the post of driver in IGIB. The minimum age of the applicant should be at least 18 years old while the maximum age not be more than 27 years old. The age relaxation will be provided according to the government norms from 3 years to maximum 10 years to reserve categories.
The candidate should complete 10th class from any recognise board to eligible for the post of driver. It is important to have at least 3 year experience in the driving field. The candidate should have knowledge of basic motor mechanism used in the vehicles and should able to repair minor deficiency in the vehicle. Among 3 vacancies, one vacancy is reserved for ex serviceman. The applicant should have driving licence for LMV & HMV.

Selection Procedure for CSIR IGIB Exam 2026
The department will conduct 3 phases of the recruitment including the skill test in first phase, the written examination in second phase and the document verification in third phase.
In the first phase, candidates have to appear in the driving test and other physical activities related to the driving profession. The test will be only in qualifying nature where candidates have to only pass the test, and their marks will not be added in the merit list.
Written examination: the second stage will include the descriptive written test where authority will conduct OMR based objective answer type questions for 100 questions where general intelligence, quantitative aptitude, general awareness and general English will be evaluated for 25 questions each.
